I believe there is to much secrecy not to little. I know about security
classifications, I had a Top Secret, Crypto clearance. Many things are classified
to not embarrass and to hide things that should be transparent. Some of things
wikileaks is putting out should never have been classified anyway.
I may not be long for this world, but I fear for the younger generation. They are
the ones who will be paying for this folly. If the sheepals do not wake up soon,
it will be to late. Tell your friend good luck paying when the bill comes do.
And it is not all being caused by the social programs. which which the right wing is sure
to blame.

What we should have is a formula that would set a base line for our military budget.
We should be spending on the military as much as the next two (or three) largest
militaries in the world.
For example, the British military budget it about 67 Billion, and France is about
the same. If you included China and Russia, the combined budget for these counties
is about half of ours. Of course this will never happen.
Can you imagine what we could do with the 400 billion dollars we would save. Remember what Pres.
Eisenhower said when he left office, "beware of the military complex,."

The Top Ten Misconceptions About Atheists

Let me correct some of the most egregious misconceptions believers have about us, in reverse order:

10) We don’t eat or molest babies. Nor do we agree with what allegedly atheist dictators did in the past century. Over-all we are good people. All you need to do is personally know one of us to see this. I have no doubt but that you probably already know an atheist. It’s just that you don’t give that person the freedom to tell you in this Christian dominated culture. I wish more atheists would “come out of the closet” because of this.

9) We do not worship the devil. We do not think he exists.

8) We do not fear threats of hell. So why make them? Christians don’t fear any threats of hell coming from Muslims. So why threaten us? The fact that you do shows us you’d rather see us burn in hell. That’s some Christian compassion in action!

7) We don’t claim to know more than God. We don’t think he exists. We do think that if God existed he could have done a much better job with this world though.

6) We don’t claim to be better than God. We don’t think he exists. We do think that if God existed he doesn’t appear to be good.

5) We don’t hate God nor are we angry with he/she/it. Again, we don’t think he exists. We can be angry with what believers do in the name of God though.

4) We do not agree with each other about a host of other ideas. But we all agree that a god probably doesn’t exist.

3) We don’t claim to know with certainty that a god of some kind doesn’t exist. Not even Richard Dawkins or Victor Stenger thinks it’s impossible that a god of some kind exists (I heard them both say as much in debates). We do think the God hypothesis is unnecessary and irrelevant to life though.

2) We don’t have faith nor a religion. We base our conclusions on the available evidence. We do not take a leap of faith beyond those probabilities. And since to have a religion one must believe in supernatural beings and forces, we cannot be labeled as religious in any meaningful sense.

1) We are not a minority. In one sense, depending on how you categorize people, we are all minorities in some group or another. But we are the second largest denomination in America. Depending on how we define an atheist (if we include agnostics who are skeptics with regard to all "revealed" religions) we may even be upwards to 24% of the population. So says this poll. Worldwide we represent third place among the world religions, even though we're not religious.

Have you ever noticed when there is an Atheist in a movie or tv show, they have always been de-converted because of a tragedy or some other I hate god reason. Then at the end, they are shown to be wrong in their belief. From all the Atheist I know this has never been the story. They de-convert because of reasoning over a long period of time.

I don't think belief has to much to do with intelligence. I consider myself below average intelligence but, a true nonbeliever. Being raised in a Catholic family, Indoctrinated in Catholic school, being an alter boy, I was able to finally understand that it was an irrational belief.

What I can't understand are how vary intelligent people can believe that a supreme being created the universe and cares about your every thought and deed.

Your point about mental capacity made me think about my severely mentally retarded brother who nether believes nor disbelieves.

I just thought I would let you know my thoughts about the chain E-mail titled "I can only hope we find God again before it is too late!!

Where are Jews and Christians being pushed around? There is no other group I know of that has more rights and privileges than theist. Tax exempt, do not need to follower fair employment act, etc.

America is not an Atheist country, it is a secular country. which means you can believe in any religion you want or no religion at all. God or Jesus is not mentioned in the Constitution, just what the founders of this country intended. Calling the U.S. a Christian nation is a myth pushed by the religious right.

In a secular country, such as the U.S. you are allowed to worship God or gods anyway you want for any reason you want. You are also allowed not to believe in a supernatural being.

For someone to say that natural disasters are related to ones piety, or lack thereof, is simply looking for some link to justify a preconceived notion.

The Bill of Rights was written over 200 years ago, and mandatory prayer/scripture recitation in public school has always been a violation of the establishment clause. It just hasn’t been enforced as such until relatively recently.

Dr. Spocks son did not commit suicide. He had two sons and they are alive and well. He did have a grandson who committed suicide in 1983. He had long suffered from schizophrenia.

It always fascinates me how the author of these Christian chain E-mails gull people into forwarding this propaganda to others. When was the last time you received an chain letter from an Atheist or Freethinker?
